About IPv6 Ready Web Site Logo.

The IPv6 Ready Web Site Logo was created by Shuichi Murashima (Mura), the administrator of vmnet.jp, in the hope of deploying IPv6.
You can use this logo to appeal for appealing to web users that your web site is IPv6 ready, and contributes to the publicity of IPv6.

The presently used global IPv4 addresses of the Internet will run out of its pool around the year 2010 to 2011, and the "Global IPv4 Address Exhaustion Issue" will arise, which means that we will not be able to get new IPv4 addresses anymore.

The "Global IPv4 Address Exhaustion Issue" will make it impossible to launch new services (such as Rakuten or mixi in Japan) on the Internet. Furthermore, it will be difficult to expand existing services. As we, the Internet users, use a global IPv4 address when we connect to the Internet, its exhaustion will place limitations on Internet access, and will result into the declination of Internet service providers and the Internet itself.

People are seeking for solutions to the issue. However, to radically solve the issue, enlarging the address space is the only way.
The "IPv6" is it.

To deploy IPv6, each of the Internet users, the contents providers and the Internet service providers have to intoroduce IPv6, which means they need to pay for it.

Recent OSes support IPv6, so time will solve the problem of the IPv6 support of users' PC. However, the Internet Protocol works in the lower layer of network communication, which makes it difficult for users to recognize that they use IPv6. The fact that IPv6 has a low profile for average Internet users and its necessity is not so much recognized result into Internet Service Providers hesitate to put IPv6 into service. If Internet Service Providers are not eager to service in IPv6, it is difficult for the contents providers to support IPv6.

If things go as they are, the Internet is likely to decline. To break this situation, it is important that we, the internet users, recognize that we need to introduce IPv6, and motivate the Internet Service Providers and the contents providers getting serious about putting in IPv6.

A person or a company who encourage the deployment of IPv6, or wish to appeal that his/her/its web site is serving on IPv6 may use this logo. You do not have to care to inform me.

Please keep the following statements when you use this logo.
